After a bad year for Rhinos worldwide, Nepal finds cause for celebration

In South Africa, 2011 marked a record year for rhinos lost to poaching. More than 440 of the critically endangered animals died at the hands of poachers. Meanwhile, the black rhino was declared extinct in Western Africa. To top the year off, the Javan rhino was declared extinct in Vietnam.

Indeed, 2011 was a bad year for the world's rhino populations.

In Nepal, however, there was a reason to celebrate in spite of the upsetting news elsewhere. In 2011, not a single rhino was lost in Nepal due to poaching.

“This is the first time in 29 years that Nepal has gone an entire year without a single poached rhino, and it’s a testament to the efforts of the Government of Nepal, WWF and many partners,” explained Barney Long, Asian species expert at WWF, “we hope the new year will bring additional good news from other countries like South Africa as they continue to crack down on rhino poaching.”

Unfortunately we couldn’t wish Imran Khan yesterday.

He has turned 28. At first I didn’t like him but now I do. He sounds like one gentleman. Plus, Imran & Avantika look great together. So far his acting skills are concerned, he’s natural.

We wish him all the happiness in the year 2011! Guys like him surely rock!

Kareena - "It is amazing to have two back to back blockbusters"

Now that Kareena has ended 2010 on a high, she is also proud of the fact that she is the only actress in the history of Indian cinema to have as many as two films to her name which have done a business of over 100 crores. In 2010, it was 'Golmaal 3' which raked in around 110 crores. On the other hand '3 Idiots', which released in December 2009 and had most of it's run in early 2010, is still unassailable with a total that has exceeded 200 crores.

"Of course being humble and all about such matters is one thing but undoubtedly, it is indeed amazing that two of my films have done such bumper business and turned out to be blockbusters," Kareena says in a confident tone when asked about her terrific run so far, "These are the facts and there are figures to show for that. Also, to have two of your films do such superb business in quick succession would make any actor proud."

Kareena states on a parting note. "God has been kind to give me this success. I guess festive seasons are pretty much working for me. Now on Eid comes 'Bodyguard' and then in Diwali it would be 'Ra. One'. I am sure my lucky stint with festivals would continue in 2011 as well."
