Keep love in your heart

“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.”

Oscar Wilde

Being sorry

“Being sorry is the highest act of selfishness, seeing value only after discarding it.”

Douglas Horton

Problems

“Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.”

Robert H. Schuller

Be more concerned with your character

“Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

Dale Carnegie

Out of suffering

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls: the most massive characters are seared with scars.”

Kahlil Gibran

When we have nothing

When we have nothing left but God, we discover that God is enough.

To acquire the habit of reading

“To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from nearly all the miseries of mankind.”

Somerset Maugham

Review: Second Hand Jawani

It took me a while to decide whether I like this song or not. The first time, I saw this video I felt it's just another cheap song with some catchy music - two hots girls and one Khan. However, as I listened to it over and over again, despite the fact that I pretty much dislike the lyrics the song grew on me.

The second hand jawani part suits Saif Ali Khan perfectly like a diamond. I don't know if anybody else has noticed it or not, but Saif has finally started to look a bit old. Gone are the days when he looked like that cute, smart boy and it was quite incredible that he carried those younger looks for so long. But not anymore. It just looks a little annoying.

The truth - youth is only for a while after which one must learn to act their age. That's the way to be. When one tries to be all childish, it can be more than annoying even when good actors do that. So yes, Saif is a great actor but somewhere in the songs the silly looks kind of pull him down.

So, yes it's a cheap but fun song. There's something interesting about it, no doubt about that. Having said this, it is yet another short lived. Such music cannot last for a long time.

Fox and Green in Hawaii

The story goes something like this: Megan Fox is very much pregnant.

Quite frankly, I didn’t care much about this rumor. You know after all, married people as well as unmarried folks do get pregnant. But then I saw some pics in which Megan Fox is flaunting baby bump in Hawaii. And then I heard my sister saying that you’re not thinking about posting these photos, but I had already decided that this ought to be shared with my readers.

Earlier this year, Megan Fox told E! that she’d ‘love to have kids.’

“I mean, it's going to happen when it's going to happen, but it's not something that I've planned against or for.”

It’s beyond all of us as to why both Fox & Green were hiding this pregnancy. In fact Brian even told People magazine that baby rumors have followed their relationship for years. Maybe both Fox & Green wanted to surprise us. We are not surprised but yeah we are thoroughly enjoying the news with them.

Anyway, since we are talking about pregnancy, I just want to add one thing. There are certain women out there who think that getting pregnant is the easiest thing. I don’t know from which planet they have come from, but it’s really low to form such opinions without getting pregnant. Nine months is a pretty long time & every day is tough on a pregnant woman.

I know I haven’t said anything about the pics...Well I think all of them look fake, to be precise. And believe me, I'm not making fun of these pics...this is how they seem to my brain cells - all made up & fake! In fact, both Fox & Green look equally fake.

The only sexy woman I know

Marilyn has been one of my favorites, which is why I often share her pictures.

Anyhow, in my last write-up on Marilyn, we were kind of shocked as one of the magazines was low enough to print stuff that wasn’t necessary as she has been dead for years. It seems that some people are still jealous of her.

It’s true I don’t have eyes for desi beauty. I just can’t see anything. I also believe that the definition of beautiful or sexy ought to be different for different people. You just can’t impose your opinion on others. In my eyes, Kate Beckinsale, Liv Tyler, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Parveen Babi, Michelle Pfeiffer are some very beautiful, attractive women. Of course no one has to agree with me.

The other day this so-called friend of my sister was adamant that Indian women are just groomed, but Pakistanis are far more beautiful. I don’t why people even bother to compare. It isn’t essential…there is just no need. You know I have been here all my life & I don’t know what do they mean by beauty in the 1st place. In the late 80s & early 90s, I admit there were beautiful men & women, but now all of them look alike. I don’t want to besmear my post by mentioning certain names. All I want to say is that: You want to raise altars, raise them for the right people.

Beyond any reasonable doubt, Marilyn was/is & will always remain the sexiest woman. I don’t think anyone can beat that. Idiots are still imitating what she did years ago, but still look idiot. However, they would continue to embarrass us for a long time.

R.I.P.

Tonight it dawned upon me...that it is about time that N and myself should start using R.I.P. after our names. It is not that surprising actually, especially for those of you who know the history well. Sadly, not many remember the past.

The story goes that we practically died some 20 years ago. The cause of death is still unknown. However, our thick blood, kith and kin and whoever else can be part of the clan broke the news for us in the most spectacularly clear manner that they could.

But rebellious or naive as we were as we never accepted the truth. We fought against the odds. Our battle was against our very own self and thus the only ones who got hurt was us.

Anyway, it is with great pleasure and satisfaction that I now proudly announce today that the two of us have finally learnt to accept our fate and our reality.

Now we shall be at peace - R.I.P.

The only twist in our case is that apart from being permanently dead and gone please be careful that our Return Is Possible (R.I.P.).

I hope many will be happy to know we are finally gone :)

Kisiki Muskuraahaton Pay Ho Nisaar – Anari

I haven’t seen Anari but I really like this song. The lyrics are superb. Over all, it’s a mind-blowing song. It makes you think for days & even years…And a day comes when you realize that love for humanity is much above everything. Love is really supreme. Helping out the needy, weak & animals definitely make you a better person. I’ve never taken such acts of kindness as love, I’ve always taken it as just kindness, but whatever it is, it never goes waste. Giving your seat in the bus to an older person or helping out a disabled person on the road, or giving food to animal…everything has value.

I’ve also never liked Raj Kapoor. Even though I must admit that he seemed to have an open mind. He has made movies on such subjects that people are not even capable of understanding today…in fact they don’t even notice such disparities & discrimination. However, he looks kind of fake in this song :P I admire his thinking, but I can’t admire fake expressions.

I’ve always been fascinated by the line:

“Kisike waaste ho tere dil mein pyaar
Jeena issi ka naam hai”

It’s not just love for a man or woman, it could be love for anyone or anything. As long as you are capable of experiencing this emotion, life is by all means worth living.

Even these lines are superb:

“Mitte jo pyaar kay liye woh zindagi
Jaley bahaar kay liye woh zindagi
Kisi ko ho na ho hamein tou aitbaar
Jeena issi kaa naam hai”

What an attitude! Believing in the good will eventually lead to good things I suppose. I think whatever you do, whether you get positive results or not, you should never regret doing a good deed.

Last stanza is just awesome:

“Rishta dil say dil ke aitbaar ka
Zinda hai hameen se naam pyaar ka
Kay mar ke bhi kisi ko yaad aayenge
Kisi ke aansuon mein muskuraayenge
Kahega phool har kali se baar baar
Jeena issi kaa naam hai”

Love can never go waste. It’s a beautiful feeling. Even I’ve written a number of times that I somehow I don’t believe in love anymore. It has dawned on me that I had been wrong. There is nothing wrong with love. We confuse it with all the negative stuff owing to bad experiences.

It’s true save a life & you save yourself. An act of kindness can never go waste. However, don’t expect gratitude. When you do good, leave it to God. We shouldn’t expect something in return.

I don’t know about humans, but I can say it with confidence about all my pets & stray animals I know kay mar ke bhi kisi ko yaad aayenge.

This is not directly related but recently I had the fortune to see one of the scenes of the film Yaadein. In this particular scene Jackie Shroff has reached his saturation point. He has been putting up with shit for years & the only reason behind all this is loyalty towards his friend. However, you reach a point in life where you have to speak your mind as all selfish people think you’re a coward or someone who’s running after their money & shit. He says: ‘Dil phat gaya hai mera!’ And that he wouldn’t mind slapping the elder brother of his friend, but he won’t & he even called his friend a coward who does nothing & just watches how he gets insulted right in front of him.

I think those who have experienced it would understand it well. When your heart explodes, I guess it’s easier for you to move on. Somehow you get the strength to say what you want to say & you also make the decision that you couldn’t earlier on. Sometimes it’s really worthless to invest in certain people but we all make mistakes...at least we were willing to try. Anyhow, it’s better to let go of them.

However, I don’t think that what you have done for the sake of goodness just goes in the gutter. It doesn’t. It defines you. I think it requires a lot of courage to give or to feel something for someone in such a selfish & materialistic world. Even if you think you’re failure, do give yourself points for being alive, cause the rest of them are living corpses. It definitely requires character to do something for someone who wouldn’t pay you back.

Oh and Jackie Shroff is the only guy in Bollywood who’s got a really sexy voice!

And I do hope you like the song as well. Muskesh has put life into it for sure. This song is for all times.

And I’m sure those who believe in love will never forget: kisike waaste ho tere dil mein pyaar jeena issi ka naam hai. It’s the best kind of life. It’s better than the one wasted in envy, jealousy, gossiping, scheming & of course playing lousy games when nearly everyone is tired.

Some women still miss old-fashioned male chivalry even today

One such woman is actress Michelle Dockery who is playing Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey. She believes modern men have lost some of the most appealing aspects of their personalities & I totally agree with her. We may have progressed outwardly but we have lost a lot on the way. It’s true ‘chivalry’ & ‘good manners’ are two traits, which are totally missing. In fact the noble qualities such as courage & honor too are somehow disappearing. No one wants to help out the weak. It goes for both men & women. And forget about protecting women & the weak in this age. You’d be mad to yearn for that kind of man or a woman who could behave as a woman. This age is all about equality, but during this struggle, noble qualities in a person has vanished. Even when we talk about equality, we miss out gays, bisexuals, blacks, Asians, Muslims, animals, atheists, etc. Some people are just more equal & the story ends there.

When asked how Michelle Dockery thought the role of women had changed since the days of Downton, set during the First World War, she told the Radio Times:

“We take so many of our freedoms for granted nowadays. I can travel where I like, I can have a baby when I like, I can do any job I want – but I do think chivalry has been lost a little bit.”

“Those old manners – such as men standing when women arrive at the dinner table or opening doors for you – are lovely, and it’s lovely when you see a man doing that today. But young men wouldn’t think about that for a second because it’s not the culture anymore.”

I don’t think it’s little bit. I would say it’s completely missing. No one has time to help out the weak or even think about protecting women. Some people also do not know what is freedom even today. Now that is disparity. I don’t even think they can even understand as to what we are blabbing about. So far as the protection of women is concerned, in many cases, immediate family members also don’t have time to protect their own daughters & sisters, to begin with. They want you to earn as it is something in fashion or whatever. Since everyone works, you must also work. That’s the logic. I personally know females who work & they don’t want to work owing to a variety of reason, but they have to support families & they are being pressurized to work like mad. No one respects them as such. So I don’t know what kind of equality we are running after. If a woman is harassed or sexually abused at the work place, people start pointing out towards her character…That in a way she must have provoked the man. Which is why I’m sorry I don’t get when people talk about equality & that a woman becomes a strong individual when she works. Even though at home her brother or husband is there to beat the shit out of her. That’s how strong some women are.

It’s true now men don’t open doors or stand when a woman arrives. I think we are all quite used to it. And yes I agree it’s not the culture anymore. But it would be really nice to meet a gentleman.

I think the only gentleman I ever knew was a friend of my mom Professor Rafat Karam. He was also my teacher at the uni. I don’t know any other gentleman & it’s saddening that even he is dead.

Today men don’t even think twice before insulting a woman. Jeering at a woman along with crappy people, (which is but mental torture & emotional abuse )is the easiest thing. They don’t even mind slapping her, if they could in some cases. It’s just that they don’t get a chance & those who do make sure they beat the shit out of a woman. Anyhow, they manage to emotionally abuse a woman as much as they can. When you want to do a wrong deed, you would have thousands of supporters.

Respect is essential for a woman but sorry no one has time to respect her anymore. It’s even more difficult to respect a woman who has certain values & principles. Anyhow, I think that chivalry is almost dying, cause women also don’t behave as women anymore. Lady-like thing too has disappeared. Naturally men have no time for chivalry either. It’s just bad for those who are still old-fashioned & believe in certain principles which mean nothing to both men & women. In fact people just laugh at us for believing in the impossible in this age. Unfortunately people have become selfish & insensitive. The only thing that matters now is money. Naturally when everything ends in materialism, you can’t expect much. I suppose a time will come when we will also stop lamenting.

One would definitely respect a man who'd be sensitive enough to think about others. I don't think your ego is damaged when you go out of your way & does something for another being. It makes one a better individual. And anyone who takes that person for granted is a fool but nevertheless things have deteriorated & altered badly. You can't just blame men for it. I believe both men & women are responsible for this mess.

It's difficult for me to get the example of Adam & Even out of my mind. It's the most beautiful example. Woman was created as a companion for man...she wasn't meant to be his slave. But God knows what went wrong.

Stupidity

“Against stupidity the gods themselves battle in vain.”

Schilles

A worse pest

“There is no one who is a worse pest than somebody who insists on playing when nobody else wants to. I’m not asking you to help me. Not at all! I simply want you not to bother me.”

Jean-Paul Sartre

People who truly love you

People who truly love you will never leave you, not even once.

When I look into the eyes of an animal

“When I look into the eyes of an animal I do not see an animal. I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.”

A. D. Williams

Sometimes on the way

Sometimes on the way to the dream you get lost and find a better one.

Sheeshe kay gharon mein dekho tou pathar dilwale baste hain

It’s a fabulous song. In fact, this is the kind of song that says the truth in a very simple yet painful manner. Kishore Kumar has sung it beautifully. Both Kamal Haasan & Reena Roy have given amazing expressions. Many a times, it seems Kamal Hassan will just cry.

Those who have experienced it will know it better than others, cause some are not at all capable of understanding a thing. You write a book for them, but they won’t get it. They remain at one place for thousands of years…Making one mistake after another & blaming the other person for getting hurt.

Anyway, R.D. Burman won his first Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Sanam Teri Kasam.

I believe some will find it too dramatic & some will say that this kind of stuff doesn’t happen anymore. The fact is…feelings still exist & people still get hurt. And there are just too many insensitive people out there who just like to play with feelings of others. And the funniest thing is they even get offended when you tell them the truth. However in this song at least Reena Roy seems to care about the guy. In real life, things are very different. No one gives a damn. If you make the mistake of expressing yourself, people get offended.

Sheeshe ke gharon mein dekho tou pathar dilwale baste hain
Jo pyaar ko khel samajhate hain aur tor ke dil ko hanste hain

Many a times, rich people complain that people are only after their name, money, & power. But those who make the mistake of taking them just as humans pay the price. And you know making fun is perhaps the easiest thing. Rich people always have servants/sycophants to do their dirty work.

Kabhi jaan pay khel ke bhi jag mein kasamon nibhayaa jaata tha
Jab vaade bhulane se pehle khud ko hi bulayaa jaata tha
Ab kasamein kitni jhuthi hain aur vaade kitane sastay hain

It must have happened ages ago. Sincerity & loyalty are very rare things. Liars are chosen over sincere people.

Perhaps these two lines sum up everything. It’s almost impossible to know the value of love in this age. Those who worship money, fakeness & all the materialistic shitty stuff can only do business.

Aji pyaar sauda dilo ka hai jo yeh vyopari kya jaane
Ye pyaar to apani pooja hai daulat ke pujari kya jaane

And I think those who complain about meeting women/men who are just interested in their money, I guess they too have been interested just in sex or something. Maybe they didn’t click, & bitchy men & women know when & how to ditch them at the right time. This is just an opinion. I really don’t know.

I was just a kid when I liked this song. I actually have no idea what exactly clicked me at that time but I’m amazed that I liked very sad songs when I was young.

The problem is...one doesn't have control over what one may feel for others. You don't think about class difference, strange, dirty people surrounding the person, etc. The fact that you don't belong to that fake world doesn't seem a problem. You think you can fight the battle. And perhaps that's the reason a person gets hurt even more when it dawns on him/her that the other person is just playing with his heart all along.

Kate Beckinsale covers Women’s Health

Kate graces the cover of the July issue for Women's Health & she looks awesome.

Actually she’s one of my favourites & I can’t say anything against her. She’s also genuinely beautiful & I’ve never seen/heard her bragging about her looks. Of course she has no need to.

Anyway, in her interview she said she is enjoying everything that life has to offer her.

“It all just unfolds and I think, well, that’s who I am now.”

Nice attitude towards life!

Kate’s upcoming movie is Total Recall, which is a science fiction film. It’s a remake which stared Arnold. The cast is good. They have Colin Farrell & Jessica Biel but the trailer is totally pathetic. However, Kate Beckinsale looks gorgeous.

The year is 2084 & after the war, the world has been divided into superpowers. They implant artificial memories of how they want the person to lead his life. This is what happens with Colin Farrell.

Total Recall 2012 will be arriving in theatres on August 3rd.

Kate also talks about her fight scene in the movie with Jessica Biel.

“It’s not like a naked, porno, mud-wrestling-in-a-bar sort of fight – it’s a real fight.”

However, this experience has been much different from fighting with men.

“I did find that fighting a woman was very different from when I’ve fought men. There was a lot of "I didn’t hurt you, did I? Ooh, I’m sorry about that! No, it was my fault!”

Madam Malai Needs To Wake Up!

I never thought this song would motivate me to write once again. However, it is so amazingly bad that it is hard to ignore also, which is perhaps what is the purpose of creating such work in the first place.

These so called Hindi 'Item Songs' have actually taken low to yet another level. Every movie has to have one cheap song showing booty and flesh with gross lyrics. Whether it's some known actress like Deepika, Malaika or Katrina or some unknown struggling artist - the result is the same. These short lived songs have no meat absolutely. They are senseless and uncalled for. There are many more decent ways of entertaining audiences as well and now we have seen it all so such nudity doesn't excite many except frustrated minds.

Now just have a look at this 'Madam Malai', item song, you will take nothing back in your head or heart, however you'll lose some very precious minutes of your life all for nothing. I don't know if this is a B, C or D class movie -but I'm sure our very own Veena (and I don't feel no pride as I write) looks beyond slutty as if her first item song 'Channo' was not spicy enough for her and all those back home. The same moves, the same old boobs and butt show it not going to take her very far. Also, the pathetic choreography and the dancers in the background are such a major turn off.

I hope Veena will realize sometime soon that it is indeed tragic what she's doing to herself. In all honesty, I try not to think of her acts ever, leave alone write about them now but the fact that somebody can actually do this to herself for money and fame is kind of sad. And if there are any liberals around, they aren't standing next to her in case she wants to fool herself yet again. They are always a delusion and will always remain a delusion.

Anyway, this is some real bad music and trashy entertainment by all means! I pray and sincerely hope, all sane people will not like it.

There are many more decent ways of entertaining audiences as well and now we have seen it all, so such nudity doesn't excite many except frustrated minds.

The same moves, the same old boobs and butt show is not going to take her very far.
