Anonymous

Anonymous is not a new movie, but it’s must a watch if you haven’t seen it as yet.

We all have heard so much about William Shakespeare. His parents were illiterate & even his daughter Judith was illiterate. The fact that he couldn’t write anything has always bothered those who have interest in Literature. There have been various theories surrounding this mystery. More than twenty thousand books and articles have been written about the "identity problem" regarding William Shakespeare. Few facts even point out that Sir. Francis Bacon is the man who has written all these plays & sonnets. Anyhow, in this movie, they have shown Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford as the writer. In fact he has been the most popular alternative candidate proposed for the authorship of Shakespeare's works.

No doubt we all have been played. Whatever the truth is, this movie doesn’t let you down & you won’t be bored for even a second provided you have interest in literature. Everyone has done justice. You’d love the characters of Ben Jonson & Edward. In fact Rhys Ifans had been just awesome. And the guy who is depicted as Shakespeare is just too funny. He was a pathetic actor & I liked the way Ben Jonson said to him that he must stay off the stage as writers don’t have time to act.

But one feels sorry for Edward de Vere. At every point in his life, they make him stay away from writing poetry. It was regarded as some sort of sin. Even the queen made him promised that he would not ever make claims to his plays.

I’m not a fan of Shakespeare, but this entire thing about his real identity has been shrouded in mystery. Writing is not an easy thing & it’s not right that someone else writes & the other person gets famous for it. This is the most unfair thing.
