The Other Side Of The Story

Today, I discovered a few things. I was actually taken aback thinking for all this while I did believe in certain things passionately but actually the real story was so different. In fact, Nadira and I have strongly written about certain stories on our blogs over the years. We spoke against the stuff things that happen in our society and it dawned upon us we were just looking at things from one side.

Though, I always say, we should never follow our media blindly but somehow even I missed out certain things. Our media is absolutely irresponsible. It does not care about the truth. It follows it's own agenda of making money, getting higher TRPs, fooling people, satisfying political parties etc. It highlights incomplete stuff. Our media never brings out in the open the entire truth...they never document things for the record also. Even I was fooled...I too just looked at one side of the coin, which was wrong.

We just shared and talked a bit on how our rangers shot an unarmed boy in Karachi who was in the park. There was a footage of it also made by a cameraman who is now getting threats for sharing this evidence with the world. Obviously, shooting that boy was wrong. There are protocols, human rights, ethics and laws that need to be followed by rangers and law enforcement agencies so that they know they are not a law unto themselves.

However, the media is just highlighting on the fact that the boy was killed. The other version of the story is that he was in the park...he was trying to rob off some family and was harassing some women in there too, which is why people caught him and handed him over to the rangers. The holy rangers were too angry and they shot him. Shot him on the leg ok...but they took him to the hospital so late that he died. The way he was killed was wrong! But why he was caught...that story is not told to the common people.

One other story about which we have written time and again is the Muneeb and Mughees case. We felt their pain how the villagers killed them, smashed their faces, hung them upside down like some animal. All of this happened in the presence of police officials. People made videos of all this on the cell phones thinking it was entertaining or some horror movie. Again the way these two boys were killed was absolutely wrong. It only shows lack of tolerance, sensibility and literacy in our society.

Sometime ago, as I was trying to find the details of this case I noticed so many posts/articles that were there earlier were no longer there. Media has been almost quiet about this case...never tells the real truth. One very strong version of this story is that the two brothers had a fight with the local villagers in Buttar one week before while playing cricket and they left the ground. The day they were lynched the brothers went there and killed one of the boys - Bilal. They were caught by the angry villagers and then whatever happened to them was wrong, needless to say. Perhaps, this was the truth...only God knows.

I feel sad that I was so strongly supporting Muneeb and Mughees all this while. If our media was responsible and truthful, we would have known the entire story clearly but we are never told anything in the right manner. Their youth was highlighted and the fact that one of the brothers was even Hafiz-e-Quran was talked about but more important things were intentionally not discussed. Human faces can be so deceiving. But if there is anything that is growing constantly - it is badness.

Anyway, how all these three boys were killed was wrong because the common people or the law enforcing agencies have no right to just kill anyone. That is what is obviously wrong. Our media remains irresponsible. And I feel sorry for believing in something that might just not even exist.

Video Of The Young Boy Killed By Rangers

Nadira just shared a report on how our shitty rangers shot an unarmed boy in Karachi at Benazir Park.

I know everybody cannot stomach this video but it is available on youtube widely. It clearly shows there was no reason to shoot him. The boy was not really a threat to the rangers in anyway. They have nothing better to do but to claim that he too was a dangerous dacoit.

I am wondering who made this video? A common person present there at the park or some journalist. I have not seen coverage of this incident on TV. My heart has become weak.

We have not forgotten Munib and Mughees who were not given justice for their torturous murder. To date, people are trying to show they were dacoits and that their lynching was justified. I don't expect much from this case either. Very soon people and the media will forget what happened to this boy as well.

This is a sickening situation. Pakistan is infested with a strange kind of madness. This nation does not know how to respect freedom. Pakistanis love to talk about Islam all the time but value of life is nothing. And nothing will change here.

Raymond Davis Is A CIA Contractor

I am honestly a bit bored of Raymond Davis now but since I was covering this story I will write till this episode is over. So the latest update is that Raymond Davis is an undercover CIA contractor as confirmed by the Pakistani intelligence officials.

They say that there is no doubt that he was working with CIA as a contractor. The Pakistani intelligence officers are pretty sure that Raymond was doing things that were not in the best interest of the national security of Pakistan. It is said that he had close links with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was part of a team that was conducting surveillance on militant groups inside Pakistan. They also believe Davis was masterminding terrorist activities in different parts of Pakistan and was recruiting young people from Punjab for the Taliban. The cellphone records show that Davis had links with 33 Pakistanis of which 27 were militants from TTP and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

According to more updates, it was during Musharraf's time in 2006 when a deal was cracked that allowed USA to conduct CIA operations in Pakistan so that they would know that Pakistan was not helping Taliban insurgents in anyway. As per this deal, Raymond Davis' job was to trail links of the Taliban and Al Qaeda in different parts of Pakistan but instead it was discovered that he had developed close ties with the TTP.

USA is now worried about global issues like Tunisia, Libya and Talibans spreading on a wider scale but it still wants Davis to be released soon.

On the other hand, there are reports on how the government is putting pressure on the victims families to withdraw the case while the religious political parties are pressurizing them to not let it go. There will be no espionage case against Davis but he will be tried for the double murders case.

Davis Case Updates - The Twist

The way Raymond Davis case was going, it was quite evident that this incredibly obvious case would ultimately be twisted and taken into completely different directions. Although, who would possibly have doubt in understanding that the American did in fact kill two people who didn't threaten him in anyway. A bystander died miserably for no reason by a few people in a car that came see that Davis stayed secured and well protected after killing two common Pakistanis. And then the suicide committed by the young wife of one of the men killed by Davis in protest against government's political change in attitude that would set Davis free.

Anyhow, now for the record US Senator John Kerry after his short visit to Pakistan regarding the Davis case things are taking another turn. It is being noticed that there is shift in the US stance from talking about diplomatic immunity to now blood money and compensation. Pakistan's government is worried that bad ties with US would mean heavy losses in aid of many forms, which is why they are suggesting low measures.

Thus, now it is quite possible that US might apologize for the incident and would pay compensation to the heirs of the victims. Our puppet Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani was the one who urged US to tackle the case by thinking about the family members of those killed and the sentiments of the people of Pakistan who want justice.

On the other hand, it is reported that the all the families of the three victims have unanimously agreed on not accepting any compensation. They want death sentence for Davis. In fact, one of the victim's family refused to meet American Senator John Kerry who wanted to grief on the death of the young man.

It is so strange that such a big nation like America can't support justice in this case and are going mad to release a man who did in fact commit  crime, which is so obvious. He did kill two men for no reason. Because of him another man died on the road. Indirectly, because of him a young girl who was expecting her first child also committed suicide. It is unfair the way this case is being handled. How can money compensate human life?
