Transgender Miss Universe Contestant Jenna Talackova is now allowed to participate again in the pageant & I think this is good news. It was sheer discrimination to disqualify her from entering Miss Universe Canada after it was revealed that she was born a male and had undergone gender reassignment four years ago.
Her lawyer Gloria Allred very rightly said:
“Jenna entered this competition and gave the pageant her time, her best efforts and her money. She did not think for one moment that what she might have looked like at birth would be relevant. She did not ask Mr. Trump to prove that he is a naturally-born man, or to see the photos of his birth, to view his anatomy, to prove that he was male. It made no difference to her. Why should it have made a difference to him?”
Beyond any reasonable doubt, Jenna was wronged but I think it’s good that she’s getting the chance again & that too at the right time. We wish her all the best.
And yes if it’s a genuine problem & a person has been wronged, we do support that person on our blog.
It was truly very discriminatory on the part of the organization to throw out a person just because she had some surgery few years ago.
