One Million Hijabs for Shaima Alawadi

Iraqi immigrant Shaima Alawadi was brutally murdered in her San Diego home last month & police think it could be hate crime but no one is sure about it. She was beaten & was found unconscious in a pool of blood. However, police have yet to identify or apprehend suspect in connection with this killing. Anyhow, next to her body was a note that said, “Go back to your country, you terrorist.” Apparently it is hate crime but maybe the killer wants us to think otherwise. However, there is no justification for killing a person anywhere.

32 year old Shaima Alawadi was planning to divorce her husband & move to Texas when she was killed. She has left behind five kids.

Anyway, one million women have shown their support by posting pictures of themselves wearing traditional headscarves as part of a global campaign. It’s commendable, cause most of these women are non-Muslims. The thing is…these women didn’t have any need to support a Muslim woman but they have taken this step & we must appreciate it.

Now they all create pages on FB like anything, but what I like about this page is that these women do not believe in discrimination of any kind. Everyone is welcome.

Today they posted on the page:

“If, ultimately, investigations prove that this was not a hate crime and Ms. Alawadi was not targeted for her veil, this page will leave behind a beautiful testimony of human solidarity, compassion, empathy and acceptance towards the Muslim community, the women that chose to wear hijabs around the world, and to all the Shaimas who feel any less than welcomed in this country.”

Naturally when you go out of your way to morally support anyone on this planet that ought to be appreciated! I have seen that some people find faults in everything. You see if a stranger takes out a minute for you, give him points for that & be thankful that we still have humans on this planet.
