Ajay's shock outburst

Ajay Devgn has joined Aamir Khan in staying away from award ceremonies. Most functions just market themselves by wooing celebrities and awarding the nominees who agree to attend the events, says the actor.

"I don't attend award ceremonies. The facts with award ceremonies are that you are called saying, 'Please come for the awards, we are giving you the award'; when you don't go, they say they had to give it to someone else. They also have to market it; they also have to sell their awards. So it's a problem for them," Ajay said.

"They have to give awards to whoever attends the function. So they keep their options open," said the 41-year-old who was won the National Award twice for 'Zakhm' and 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh'.

"It feels good when you receive an award. But there are small, small things that I have to keep in mind. If a couple of awards ceremonies are genuine and you attend them then you have to attend all the other award ceremonies. So it's better that I don't attend any of them," he said.

He feels something similar happens while selecting movies for the Oscars. The actor maintains that Indian films have the potential to grab Oscars, provided the right film is sent for it.

"We can make it to the Oscars, but there are lots of politics behind it also. There are many big films, small films but they are good films, which are not sent to the Oscars. But I don't understand why they cheat their own country.

" 'Devdas' and 'Bhagat Singh..' were made in the same year. Whose probability of winning an Oscar is more, a film on a drunkard or a freedom fighter?...Over the years many small good films, some of them by first time directors, have been made, but no one sends those films for Oscars," Ajay said.

This year he has been nominated for all the three awards - Big Star Entertainment Award, Star Screen Awards and Apsara Awards - in the best actor category for the crime thriller 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai', but didn't get any.

Ajay is nominated in the best actor category in the upcoming 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 to be held Jan 29.

Kareena is out of the number game

The actress vehemently opposes comparisons that she is so often subjected to by the media. The actress thinks it does not bother her anymore how she is placed in the numbering game in Bollywood.

Wow! If it doesn’t bother her, then why does even complain? A month ago, I read the same statement. What’s the point of repeating it again & again? And I also remember that she truly believed herself to be number 1 in bitching with Karan few days ago. Moreover, she said that if there was any act in acting, then Priyanka is number 2.

Anyhow, talking about competition, comparison and the number game that is so prevalent in Bollywood, Kareena has chosen to speak her mind this time, which is nothing new. She’s saying everything that she has already said.

'I don't care about the number game and I definitely don't take any such tags seriously at all. But it's good to be working with the best in the industry. They bring out the best in you too.'

She has this complex that she’s working with the best. Aishwarya cannot work with everyone & we all know the stories. She just happens to be lucky. She may not be a dumb fuck like Katrina Kaif & please forgive me for this comparison. But something is terribly wrong with Bebo’s brain cells. Nevertheless, she’s a good actor & I like her. Speaking of which reminds me of what she said lately about awards. She’s right that awards are only given to people that are present, but I think she has received a couple of awards. Did she feel the same way when she got one or does it only happen when she doesn’t get any award?

Kareena doesn't care for awards

"Awards don't matter much to me. Lot of award functions requested me to attend them but I chose to go to Switzerland because that's the only time in the year that I get to spend with my family and loved ones," Kareena told reporters after the launch of her dietician Rujuta Diwekar's book "Women and the Weight Loss Tamasha" at Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai.

Asked if she believes that the awards are rigged, she said: "I am not sure but it's seems so because who don't attend, their names are never declared in award ceremonies. Those who don't deserve, they get the awards and those who deserve, they land up enjoying pizzas at home."

Kareena has written a chapter in Rujuta's book on her request.

"When Rujuta asked me to write something for her book, first I thought that I am not a professional writer, but then why don't I just write something so that when readers read it, they get to know more about Kareena Kapoor. What is her basic, genuine nature comes across from the chapter because I have written it straight from the heart," she said.

Meanwhile, Kareena is set to start shooting for 'Bodyguard' starting today (January 16) where she plays the female lead opposite Salman Khan.
