Main Zindagai Ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya – Hum Dono

I heard this song yesterday after a long time & I really liked it when I was a teenager, so I couldn’t get it out of my head. I still like this song & you know I'm a huge fan of Rafi.

I think it’s difficult to follow what he says but if a person does, then maybe you won’t feel pain anymore. It reminds me of the sayings of Buddha actually. Rafi sahab sounds so much like Sonu Nigam in this song.

Anyhow, I like this attitude & while I was a teenager, I really wanted to follow it but I could never succeed.

Barbadiyon ka shoog manana fizul tha
Barbadiyon ka jashan manata chala gaya

Of course you can act in front of others that you are happy & it doesn’t mean anything & you don’t give a shit & yes I have seen that people do get deceive. But it’s not about people, it’s about you & how you feel. Pretending & acting are two things that don’t help. Even if one succeeds in deceiving, which I have done a number of times, I don’t think it makes one happy or satisfied. It’s just good for a laugh.

Jo mil gaya usi ko muqaddar samajh liya
Jo kho gaya mein usko bhulata chala gaya

I think it’s easier to forget what you have lost. I mean it’s not that easy, but you move on. But I don’t always accept what fate offers me so that has always been a big no, no. I believe jo mil gaya could be also be crap & it’s better to throw it.

However, I find this extremely difficult to this day. In fact there is a huge question mark as to how one could achieve it.

Gham aur khushi mein farq na mehsoos ho jahan
Main dil ko us muqaam pe laata chala gaya

You have to forget the difference between happiness or sadness & that could only be achieved when you realize that happiness doesn’t mean much. And sadness also leaves you at one point. When nothing seems to have any impact on you, life would be tension free. But is it worth living? You are not being true to your heart. You may escape sadness or whatever that gives headaches or happiness that is so very fleeting & meaningless, but still somewhere you are not being true to yourself.

I think Dev Anand looks pretty stylish. I don’t know what happened to him later on. He stopped somewhere…God knows in which era. He was very cool guy. I haven’t seen this movie…Can’t say anything about it. But the song is worth pondering over. I wonder if question marks would ever vanish for me.

Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera – Teesri Manzil

Every time I see this song, I enjoy it thoroughly.

Both Shammi Kapoor & Asha Parekh have put life into this song. Although at some point, Asha looks more like a witch. But the dance moves are so much fun. There’s nothing cheap about it. Even they have said so much by their eyes...Amazing! And who will not come when you're gonna make such exotic moves :P

Needless to say, but it has been sung very nicely by Rafi & Asha Bhosle. This song is full of life.

I like this attitude to some extent:

“Mera khayal tumein hai, main abhi yehi jaana
Sacha hai pyar kay jhoota, yeh hai mujhay azmaana.”

Par bohat ziada azmaaish thi is case mein. I don’t think it’s right to take anyone for granted for that long but some people think it’s their right to be cruel. In the song 'O Mere Sona Re Sona,' the hero says, 'Yeh saaza tum bhool na jana, pyaar ko thokar mat lagana, kay chala jaunga mein na jaane kahan.'

Anyhow how sweet on the part of Shammi Kapoor to say this:

“Tum pay hazaron ki aankhen chahye tumko sahara.”

So don't take such people for granted unless you are a confirmed asshole or bitch. No one waits forever & no one has the nerves to put up with childish games & idiotic hints for the rest of his life. Feel good that someone gives importance to such little things, cause you may not know how long will it last.

Anyway, I totally love Shammi Kapoor in this song. There is just no one like him in Bollywood. We really miss him.

Dukh Sukh Ki Har Eik Mala – Kudrat

This quite an intense song. Even the movie Kudrat is a must watch. It's about reincarnation. The other songs are also good. Vinod Khanna looks totally fabulous.

And someone very rightly said that Rafi Sahab has got the voice of an angel.

Chal Mere Bhai - Naseeb

There are three reasons why I've posted this song from the film Naseeb.

1. The voice of Rafi - It's impossible for me to ignore it.
2. The expressions of Amitabh - They are just too good. How he makes faces when nobody gives him a ride is totally mind-blowing. Besides Rafi, he's the other singer.
3. Rishi Kapoor looks too cute.

Over all I think it's a cute, fun song. I saw Naseeb long time ago. Naturally I am not in the position to comment on it.

Woh Apni Yaad Dilane Ko Eik Ishq ki duniya Chor Gaye – Jugnu

Well I couldn't help posting this on Speak Your Mind. In fact I was thinking that reporting & giving your views on meaningless happenings is so shitty. I believe blogging is all about having fun & I have been thinking it’s high time I should start blogging as I did it in the beginning.

Anyhow, this is such a fun song. Dilip Kumar looks extremely janoo in it. In fact in the entire movie, he looked beautiful, which was inevitable as his heroine was an aunty named Noor Jehan. Just like Rakhee Gulzar, even Noor Jehan never looked young. However in this song, you could see Rafi sahab. They have created the right sort of atmosphere. Each guy has a different personality. This song rocks to this day! Babur, Tariq bhaijan, Z & I had so much fun watching & listening to it in the late 80s.

Btw, Jugnu was released in 1947 & it was produced & directed by Noor Jehan's husband Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. This film was the first major hit of Dilip Kumar. I never had the courage to see the movie as I didn’t like Noor Jehan aunty even though Ammi Papa saw it a number of times.

Well I've always liked these lines:

'Muflis thay Janab-e-Majno bhi, suntay hain jab un ki maut ayi,
Paaket say na nikli eik payee, Laila ka woh khutta chor gaye. '

Ai Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahaan - CID

Needless to say, I love this song. One of the reasons is that Rafi has sung it & other thing is that I really like the lyrics.

But Johnny Walker was so skinny.

I guess it's not so in Mumbai. It's everywhere:
'Milta hai yahan sab kuch, eik milta nahin dil'
And now I guess you don't find it even if you search the entire world. Maybe in 1960s, the situation wasn't that bad.

Even these lines are very, very true:
'Beghar ko awaara yahan kehetay hans hans
Khud kaate gale sab kay kahe is ko business
Eik cheez kay hain kai naam yahan!'

Anyone who's a little different...not as selfish & made up will still be singing:
'Ai dil hai mushkil jeena yahan' :P

I don't like the lines of Geeta Dutt.

O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan – Teesri Mazil

I just couldn't help posting another song of Teesri Manzil.

It has got beautiful lyrics & both Asha & Rafi have made it a timeless song. Moreover, the performance by Shammi Kapoor is brilliant. He is so full of life. I didn't like Helen that much in this song. I don't know why.

My favourite line is:

'Ishq hoon mein kahin theharta hee nahin!'

People often complain but how can anyone help it. Can you do anything about your nature? :P Such people are actually very sincere & they won't leave a single thing in worshiping the right way but they can't wait for ever. Such is nature.

I also like it when he says: 'Meri badnamiyon ka wafa naam hai.'

O Mere Sona Re Sona- Teesri Manzil (1966)

This is a really cute song, which is sung by Asha Bhosle & Muhammad Rafi.

Teesri Manzil is a murder mystery & it was a box office hit in 1966. Indiatimes Movies has ranked it amongst 25 top must see Bollywood movies.

During the filming, Shammi Kapoor's wife died & it was the last time Rafi sang all the songs for Nasir Hussain. Although Rafi had a beautiful voice...in spite of that, he was sidelined by his own people.

About the song, one can say...it's better late than never.

'Maine tujhay zara der mein jana
Hua kasoor khafa mat hona!'

Her sister was murdered & in such situations, it could happen.

This is so true. I think men over the entire world behave in this manner:

'O miya humsay na chipao
Woh banaavat ki saari adayen liye
Kay tum is pay ho itharatey
Kay main peechay hoon sau iltiyan liye.'

However, this can be a bit annoying, if someone persists: 'Kay main bhi saath rahungi raho gay jahan!'

However, I like these lines:

'Ye saaza tum bhool na jana
Pyaar ko thokar mat lagana
Kay chala jaunga phir main na jaane kahan!'

Hum Kisi Say Kum Nahin

I don't think anyone can beat Rafi. I think Asha Bhosle sounds a lot sexy when she doesn't try hard to be sexy. In the 70s & 80s, she did well but I don't know what happened to her later on. I liked her more than Lata.

This is not just my favourite qawwali but I could actually relate to a couple of things. First of all I really like this attitude: Hai agar dushman zamana gham nahin, koi aaye, Hum kisi say kum nahin. In fact the main stanza is superb.

And I love this stanza: 'Aaj hum jaisay jigar walay kahan, zakhm khaya hai tab huye hain jawaan. Teer ban jaaye doston ki nazar, yeh banay khanjar dushmanon ki zubaan. Baithe hain teray dar pay tou kuch kar kay oothengay, ya tuj ko hee lay jayengay ya mar kay oothengay!'

I guess you don't have to be in love to know 'roz hee chalte hain hum tou angaron pay'...

Even these lines are very deep: 'Bhes Majno ka liye main nay jo Laila hokar, Rang laaya hai dupatta mera maila hokar. Ishq jab duniya ka nishana bana, husn bhi khabara kar deewana bana' & 'Kaisay ruk jayengay hum kisi chilman say, zulfon ko banda hai yaar kay daaman say.'

Hum Kisi Say Kum Nahin was released in 1977 & it was also a super hit. It had nine songs & the sound track was directed by R. D. Burman. This particular song is a qawwali & it was sung by Mohammad Rafi & Asha. Both Rishi Kapoor & Zeenat Aman looked awesome in the movie. Many people say that Zeenat Aman only looked like a churail...you can see for yourself that she was such a sexy, pretty woman & in this movie, she looked very pretty. In fact this was a unique couple. I really liked them together.

It also has a huge cast...Tariq & Kajal were the other two people in love; in fact the main story revolved around them & they suck big time! But it's a good movie.
