Sad songs say so much - Elton John

It’s very true: ‘Sad songs, they say so much.’

Sad songs have the power to make you feel better. Whenever I listen to some Hindi songs such as Tanhayee, Hum thay jin kay saharey, Laggi sawan ki phir wo jahri hai, Tujhe bhula diya, Hum na samjay thay baat itni si, etc, they have this instant effect on me. You can relate to them & that’s what makes one feel better.

However, yesterday I posted this quote on our blog ‘A Lonely Walk’:

“It has been said that time heals all wounds. I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue, and the pain lessens, but is never gone.”

Rose Kennedy

Bearing this in mind, I would say that for some time, you do feel better…it’s true the pain is gone just for a while, but it doesn’t vanish in thin air forever just by listening to sad music of any kind.

However, it’s a totally another experience to listen to sad songs. But the pain is never gone…not completely! Whenever we get hurt, it torments again. Sometimes when we are down, it haunts us. We don’t want to look back, but it just happens. There's just no getting away...it doesn't happen once, it happens many times.

Nevertheless, sad songs have their own plus point. I guess there’s not much you can do about having a terrible experience that breaks you down a number of times.

Hope you enjoy this particular song. I’ve always loved it.
