Cate Blanchett would love to be a Bond villain

What an idea! I’d certainly like to see Cate Blanchett as a villain. She hasn’t done so many negative roles. She’s a truly talented actor!

Anyhow, Cate Blanchett did a photo shoot for the April issue of Harper's Bazaar UK magazine. And you’d be able to see the full shoot & interview on March 1st. Harper’s Bazaar magazine asked her if she would like to appear in the next Bond film, Blanchett replied: “Oh, God, yes! I’d be there in a heartbeat. I love Lotte Lenya. She had a club foot and a limp. I’m not a purist in that way.”

She was also very much interested in portraying Diana but now Naomi Watts has got that role. Anyway, her two latest projects are: Lawless, in which she appears with Ryan Gosling, and Knight of Cups, with Natalie Portman and Christian Bale.

However, she is not sure if she ever would direct a movie although she has no problem taking charge in the theatre.

She said: “There is a film I’d love to direct, but I just don’t know if I’ve got the patience. In theatre, you can have an idea and get on with it. In film, you hear of people sitting on an idea for eight years, by which time the idea has changed and evolved and become something else.”

Even she looks graceful & dignified in these photos. I’m very much interested in Knight of Cups. It’s been a while I haven’t seen any movie of Christian Bale. But one thing’s for sure – Cate Blanchett is one such artist who never disappoints her fans. She’s too good. Unlike Kate Winslet when she has affair with a teenager in a movie Notes on a Scandal, she didn’t take off all her clothes. It was her acting & you felt for the character. It wasn’t so with Kate Winslet who was dying to go naked every time in the Reader & she even got an award for it. And you know what she played the character of Hedda Gabler in the theatre. It must have been such a powerful performance. Moreover, her dialogue delivery is superb. She’s got a very clear voice & one can never forget how she said in The Lord of the Rings: ‘But there was another ring.’
