Yamla Pagla Deewana Turned Out To Be A Jackpot For Deols

I read a very unpleasant and biased movie review for Yamla Pagla Deewana in a local paper this weekend. I saw the movie in bits but didn't find it bad from any angle. It was supposed to be a fun and dhamal movie, which it did turn out to be. I mean when one already knows it is a light, family comedy with some good old memories why does one expect it to be some sort of Devdas or My Name Is Khan. It is an irrelavant and illogical expectation. However, everybody here feels they are an expert at everything they say or write.

Anyway, the latest reports from the box office is that Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD) has turned out to be quite a jackpot for the Deols in many years. It is also being compared to the success of Wanted by the trend it is going. Normally movies do well in the first week but then lose out, however, YPD maintained itself and is doing good business even now. Just like Wanted, YPD has been a success in single screens and not multiplexes. It is a hit amongst the masses who are loving the Deol Dhamal in the flick. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are the states that gave the most positive response. Mumbai, as expected didn't really give high returns.

The way YPD is going, it is now expected that the movie will touch the 60 crores mark. Sunny Deol will see such a success after many years as his last hit was Gadar that was released a decade ago. For Bobby Deol, this is the first time he would ever receive a 50 crore return in his filmy career.

I actually really found the three (Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny) quite cute. Perhaps, I like their on screen sweet chemistry. It was really a sweet movie rather than something cheap as some people think. Also, after closely analyzing Tees Maar Khan's script, it didn't have that bad a script. It was ok. Over all, the charm is only in the Deols and that is quite obvious, if one looks at it without any biasness.
