Most of you will not find these images disturbing. I haven’t chosen really graphic ones but if you are sensitive enough, then you may see sadness in every picture.
Strays never ask for anything. They can take care of themselves. But human beings are the ones who create all sorts of hurdles for both animals & humans. All over the world, animals are being abused. It’s not one country. You may have the notion that animals have rights in certain countries but those are the very places where animals are murdered every day in high kill shelters. Psychos are everywhere; they make sure they target innocent cats & dogs & other animals. They go on carrying experiments on animals even though Science has proved its useless & they have alternate methods. They go on killing & torturing animals in various countries. They even have the audacity to eat cats & dogs. In order to make food more tasty, they make sure the animal stays alive while it has been skinned. They even kill a Pittbull for barking at another dog. These days they are all after Pittbull or any dog who resembles them. Police officers have shot dogs for barking. They shoot stray dogs in so-called posh areas in my country. Unfortunately I live in that kind of area & I hate to see innocent animals being killed for a stupid reason. All dogs are not rabid. And if you think that way, you are stupid. There is just no way you can educate those who don’t want to be educated. Many abuse their own pets as they can’t stand cleaning up shit & piss, so they conveniently hit animals & we have seen videos of such abuse cases. Many dump their pets as responsibility is too much a thing to deal with. They may have given hi-fi names to hunting, but it remains a cruel sport. Some may even continue to torture bulls as it’s a part of their tradition, but it remains an act of cruelty that has no justification. When people try to help out strays by giving food, many create obstacles for them. Some crazy artists too kill animals in the name of art, which really doesn’t make any sense as they say they are actually raising awareness about animal abuse. It’s not one country; it’s the entire planet where animals are ill-treated & abused for the sheer pleasure of it.
Many people regard dogs as impure & so they presume they have the supreme right to hate them & throw stones at them or hit them with sticks & rods or abuse them in a variety of ways. I think nothing could be more impure than torturing an innocent animal. It only proves one thing – you have a sick mind & you don’t know it. George Bernard Shaw very rightly said:
“The Lord will know what to forbid & what to allow without your help.”
A friend of mine says that so far as my views on animals are concerned, I sound Pagan. Now I can’t say anything about that. To some I may sound Pagan & to some I may sound mad for my beliefs. All I know is that God does not approve of ill-treatment of innocent beings. Moreover, I believe humanity & compassion are much above any religion. I also don’t think any religion asks you to torture humans & animals for the heck of sickening pleasure. And we are supposed to raise our voice against evil deeds. That’s what I was taught as a child in my Islamyiat class & I still remember it. And being a Muslim, I don’t just remember it, I also practice it. Since animals cannot speak for themselves, we’ve got to fight for them.
I have signed zillion petitions in these 5, 6 years. And in 2011 we have seen a couple of victories, which is of course good news. Everyone thought we, animal lovers, were stupid enough to sign petitions online but it’s not so. I just hope we could help out as many animals as we can. Although I feel so helpless. Every day I read horrifying stories of animal abuse. I’d very much like to see happy animals & happy humans everywhere. But that is asking for too much.
Being kind to animals wouldn’t reduce your status. Respecting life is something that only indicates you respect the very idea of humanity. In fact you adhere to it even though things have gone rotten.
And I would just repeat myself - Be kind to animals. It won’t cost you a dime. They deserve love & respect just like humans. They also feel things. They do get upset.
