This is funny but people have been crude, low & mean in every age. Science may have progressed but human beings are still standing exactly where they were at the beginning of time.
In the 19th Century, people deliberately used to send sarcastic & obnoxious Valentine’s card.
For instance one such card has the caption: ‘You’ve had your day my dear, remember your age if you can, people can see without looking, you’re mutton dressed as lamb.’
They were specifically designed to upset & humiliate the recipient. If the sender had been annoyed or offended, then he used to send such vicious cards & they were of course sent anonymously. And, prior to the introduction of the Penny Black stamp in 1840, it was the recipient who had to pick up the cost of the postage & that must have been so irritating.
Several of the cards, which prompted complaints to the Post Office, are held by the British Postal Museum and Archive in North London.
So we have bullies in all the ages. I don’t find it any different from stalking or cyber-bullying & the fact that they prefer to remain anonymous also speaks highly about their own insecurities. In every age, bullies never have the guts to come & say mean things to you on the face. And for the most part, they don’t have any sense of humor & they are also not that creative. It’s just age or height or status or something like that they can jeer at.
