Cardinal criticizes gay marriages

Cardinal Keith O'Brien does not approve of gay marriages. He believes its "grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right".

He has a point that it’s wrong to deliberately deprive a child of a mother or father. This is a sensitive topic & I read about it yesterday but I was thinking whether I should scribble anything on it or not. I agree it is unnatural & wrong to deprive a child of either mother or father. But several kids are raised without parents or just by one parent & they turn out to be alright. On the other hand, kids raised by both parents can be psychos & really bad humans. There’s not written anywhere that gay parents will be bad parents.

Yeah the kid will have problem when he’d observe other parents but I believe a sensible gay parent could deal with it. Actually I was thinking all gays wouldn’t want to get pregnant themselves & have kids; some will think about adopting other kids & that would be good for those children as they will find loving homes. Anyhow, the cardinal is pretty angry.

Cardinal O'Brien said: "Since all the legal rights of marriage are already available to homosexual couples, it is clear that this proposal is not about rights, but rather is an attempt to redefine marriage for the whole of society at the behest of a small minority of activists.

"Same-sex marriage would eliminate entirely in law the basic idea of a mother and a father for every child. It would create a society which deliberately chooses to deprive a child of either a mother or a father."

He added: "Imagine for a moment that the government had decided to legalize slavery but assured us that 'no one will be forced to keep a slave'.

"Would such worthless assurances calm our fury? Would they justify dismantling a fundamental human right?"

You know the fact is he finds the idea quite abhorrent. Just like many clerics & closed minds, he just doesn’t approve of it, cause he already believes it’s a sin & unnatural thing. But lots of bad things happen & clerics aren’t seen making speeches & talk about calming their fury. He’s more concerned about children who would be deprived of either a mother or father. But he doesn’t think about children who are being abused by their own parents. He’s not thinking about homeless children who might be adopted.

I don’t think I have the right to judge gays & lesbians for their choices. They have the right to be what they want to be as long as they don’t harm others. If anyone has the right to judge them, it’s God.

I know the future of children is really important but is it really the future of those kids we are thinking about. Or have we just picked up a point, which is of course not all that irrelevant so that we can prove that this entire thing is unnatural? Just read out these lines: "Would such worthless assurances calm our fury? Would they justify dismantling a fundamental human right?" It’s filled with hatred & he's more concerned about the honor of United Kingdom when he says that it would 'shame the United Kingdom in the eyes of the world'. You can’t stand gays & lesbians. It’s fine. But are you seriously concerned about these children who are not even born as yet? It’s the ones who are living & breathing right now who need your compassion.
