My sister has already written a review...this is the one I had written.
2010 ended with the release of a much talked about movie, Tees Maar Khan which is Farah Khan’s third venture as a director after Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om. The story is written by Farah Khan’s husband Shirish Kunder
In Tees Maar Khan, we can see Akshay Kumar (Tabrez Mirza Khan or Tees Maar Khan) as a very smart, fearless and shameless con artist who is one of the most wanted criminals of all times. He steals whatever he wants to and whenever he likes and he claims that it is impossible to keep Tees Maar Khan behind bars because he will escape anyway.
Tees Maar Khan, is hired by another pair of international smugglers, the Johri Brothers to rob antiques worth 500 crores from a heavily guarded moving train. The movie is about the challenging and almost impossible task that Tees Maar Khan has to accomplish and how he wins the hearts of many even while doing something wrong.
Other important characters of the movie are Katrina Kaif (Anya Khan) who plays the role of a wanna be actress and Akshaye Khanna (Atish Kapoor) who is a famous Bollywood superstar but who is desperate to get an Oscar Award.
All in all, the movie is fun and an extremely light entertainment. If you want to watch a movie that doesn’t require you to use your brains at all, you can view it with ease. Otherwise, it is fast paced and quite loud throughout. It is obvious, that Akshay Kumar and Akshaye Khanna were the only two people who acted well consistently throughout the film. Katrina didn’t have to work too hard and had to act a silly, dumb girl with an over accent – all of which comes naturally to her. Other characters such as the two police officers who were chasing Tees Maar Khan, the Johri Brothers, the Police Commissioner and Baweja (Atish Kapoor’s Manager) delivered their part nicely. While Tees Maar Khan’s gang Soda, Burger and Dollar were quite irritating most of the time and not necessarily funny as they tried to be.
Some of the funniest scenes were when Akshay Kumar saved the people in a flying plane by opening the cock pit and the passengers in the plane went crazy thanking him. While Akshaye Khanna performed a silly dance move whenever he felt he was a bit closer to his dream to win an Oscar was entertaining too. Also, the chaotically made and abruptly ending movie (Bharat Ka Khazana) that Akshay Kumar made within the movie while trying to steal the antiques was surprisingly fun. The half after the intermission was definitely more entertaining.
Though Shahrukh Khan ended up ruining his friendship with Farah Khan for the role that Akshay Kumar played in Tees Maar Khan, but after watching the movie, people would agree that Akshay was the best choice for the role as he pulled it off in a perfect way. Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Naa is perhaps her finest works so far if one analyzes all her films. However, Tees Maar Khan has had a good start at the box office although it is not that great a film but audience is loving it for one reason or the other. For a light entertainment, one can watch it once at least.
