World’s first hybrid shark

Scientists have discovered the world's first hybrid sharks in waters just off the Australian coast. It’s a cross between the common blacktip shark and the Australian blacktip shark & the hybrid may turn out to be more stronger.

Interestingly this interbreeding between the two species is a sign the animals are adapting to warmer waters. However, scientists have also warned it could make the sharks stronger.

According to researchers, it’s quite an unusual thing for sharks to breed this way. Moreover, the chances are that the hybrid may replace the two breeds, if it proves to be stronger than them.

So far researchers have discovered 57 hybrids.
