Zach Avery – the girl trapped in the body of a boy

Well this is the 1st thing I read in the morning. Since Zach Avery liked to be called Zachy, so I will call him that.

Zachy was just three year old when he said to his mother : ‘Mummy I’m a girl’ but his mother didn’t take it that seriously. She thought it was some phase but it continued. He didn’t like being referred to as a girl & he also wanted to dress up like females. In fact he used to cry & wanted to cut off his penis. Naturally the family decided to seek help.

Anyway after a couple of months, doctors diagnosed Zachary with gender identity disorder, & that makes him one of the youngest children in Britain who believe he has been born the wrong sex.

The good thing is that besides his family, even his primary school has supported him. They have informed other kids that Zachy feels trapped in a boy’s body. His mother wants to raise awareness about this psychiatric condition which is known as gender dysphoria.

She admitted: “I would love to have my son back, but I want him to be happy. If this is the route he wants to take, if this is what makes him happy, then so be it. I would rather him have my full support.

“People need to be aware of this condition because it’s very common but even many family support workers have never heard of cases in children.”

I’m sure this kind of thing must be happening everywhere but unfortunately those people do not have moral support of their families…forget about the world that doesn’t miss a single opportunity of judging a person or finding faults in him. We cannot even imagine as to how gender identity disorder could drive the individual mad. These people get depressed when they are not being understood & for the most part, they are being ridiculed & harassed by others for being who they are. Many of them even commit suicide as sex change surgery or even the idea of changing sex is too much for everyone. I believe Zachy’s mom has taken the right step. People need to get educated about this psychiatric condition.

We wish Zachy a beautiful life! And I really admire his family for being so damn supportive. It could have marred his personality, if they had persisted he was a boy. He could have harmed himself as he even tried to get rid of his penis.

You know I don’t share such stories to tell you all what an open mind I am but I do that just to let closed minds know that this is a serious problem (even though it wouldn’t make much difference…they’ll remain thick heads & continue to judge) but this kind of situation can lead to a terrible mental state in which the individual is left with no other choice but to commit suicide.

Yesterday I read: ‘Think! It’s not illegal yet.’ Make the most of the situation while you’re allowed to think. Who knows a day might come when they won’t let you think. Then what? And it wouldn't hurt a bit if besides thinking about yourself, you also try to understand that other people also have real & big problems.
