This is indeed a timeless song. No wonder it was a big hit in 1995 & even to this day, the song is very popular in India. It was sung by Kumar Sanu & Roop Kumar Rathod. And Naseerudin Shah gave wonderful expressions. The movie Naajayaz itself was also a blockbuster.
It's got very deep, meaningful lyrics. You just can't say anything about the poetic depth...what if you make a mistake! This is by far the most beautiful rain song, cause you see reality in it.
Again it's very, very difficult to choose the best lines. First of all, I love the main stanza. It starts off beautifully:
'Barsaat kay mausam mein, tanhai kay alam mein,
Main ghar say nikal aaya, bootal bhi utha laya.'
There's so much truth in this:
'Abhi zinda hoon tou jee lene do
Bhari barsaat mein pee lene do.'
People just don't let you live with peace. They have issues with everything...your choices are far more important to them. They have to interfere even when it's none of their business but you can't make them see all this...they'd continue to be the nuisance they are.
I love this line: 'Mujhay tukron mein nahin jee na hai,
Katra katra tou nahin pee na hai.'
And I don't know what is there so difficult to understand about this.
'Maikadoon mein tou piya karta hoon, chalti rahon mein bhi pee lene do.'
I think 'chalti rahon mein' it's going to be more fun. You do anything that's a little different from the god-damn norms & rules (that we are supposed to follow) is sure fun.
So much depth is in the line: 'Aag say aag bhujay gi dil ki, mujhay yeh aag bhi pee lene do.'
However, I think it's unfair that courageous individuals are the only ones who are supposed to do the impossible & make it better for others.
