Honestly speaking, JFK is one person I don’t like to know much about. I have never been interested in his assassination or his various affairs. Yes I have seen movies on him, thanks to my younger brother. Now when I read about Mimi Alford’s memoir ‘Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath,’ naturally few things couldn’t get out of my head. And that’s why I need to scribble something on it, because I really don’t want to think about the innumerable details about that affair in which she called him Mr. President even in bed.
Btw, this affair lasted for 18 months & JFK even took her virginity; in fact, he seduced this 19 year old girl in Jackie Kennedy’s room. I literally wanted to puke when I read details about it. No wonder Oscar Wilde referred to details as being vulgar.
JFK or should I say notoriously sex-addicted American president…I’m utterly confused :P Anyhow, this man never even bothered to kiss her & I’m amazed she still refers to it as an affair & she has mentioned that they had a close relationship. She felt she was desired by the most powerful man & obviously she couldn’t resist all that.
“The fact that I was being desired by the most famous and powerful man in America only amplified my feelings to the point where resistance was out of the question.”
They spent a lot of time taking baths. He even made her inhale sex drug when she said no. He once asked her to perform oral sex on one of his friends, which she did & he watched it, but on another occasion, she refused to look after her brother.
Some people think she has been lying about it & some people are complaining as to why she waited so long. The answer is pretty simple. She might have kept her affair with the president a secret until her death. She had been extremely discreet about this affair. But their relationship was exposed back in 2003 when a Kennedy biography that included JFK's 18-month affair with then 19-year-old Mimi Alford was published.
And this is the part which I find extremely gross maybe because I’ve read better stuff:
The president invited this White House intern for a personal tour.
"I noticed he was moving closer and closer. I could feel his breath on my neck. He put his hand on my shoulder," she recounts. The next thing she knew, he was standing above her, looking directly into her eyes and guiding her to the edge of the bed.
"Slowly, he unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts. Then he reached up between my legs and started to pull off my underwear. I finished unbuttoning my shirtdress and let it fall off my shoulders."
Kennedy pulled down his pants but, with his shirt still on, hovered above her on the bed. He smelled of his cologne, 4711. He paused when he noticed her resisting.
"Haven't you done this before?" he asked.
"No," she said.
"Are you OK?" he asked.
"Yes," she said.
Moreover, she added: "I was in shock," she writes. "He, on the other hand, was matter-of-fact, and acted as if what had just occurred was the most natural thing in the world."
Anyhow, this seems more of an abuse than an affair. She was much younger & powerless to refuse him. And once she was seduced, just like Tess of the D’Urbervilles she started enjoying it. But I think it’s just not right to use the word affair in which the man never even kissed her. It seems more like an insult of your existence but nevertheless, people like to be treated as dirt. Unlike, Tess she is very discreet; she maintained this secrecy for way too long. Since it’s real life, we can’t expect otherwise.
