Teens participating in group sex

This has been a small study of girls at Massachusetts health clinics & they have found that one in 13 had participated in group sex. This risky sex behavior shouldn’t come as a surprise. I just don’t understand why adults forget they were teenagers at one point. However, the findings are not that nice, to begin with.

The average age of the first group-sex experience was 15.6, & mostly, it was a one-time experience. Emily Rothman is the lead author at Boston University School of Public Health & she interviewed 328 females between the ages of 14 and 20.

Consensual & non-consensual group sex is a common happening. Around 7.3 percent of the teens said they had experienced "multi-person sex" -- an experience that could have ranged from a gang rape to a sex party.

"I think one of the things going on here is that boyfriends or sex partners are forcing their female partners to watch porn and also then coercing them," Rothman said. "Whether that is through peer pressure or doing things they see in the porn, we don"t know."

45 % said having sex without condom. They have also been diagnosed with sexually transmitted disease. About one-third said they had alcohol or drugs before sex. They also reported having experienced dating violence.

I believe peer pressure is the main reason why an average teenager indulges in reckless acts. Whether you are drunk or not but you’re watching porn with a group of people, naturally something is bound to happen. When you’re young, of course people can force you to watch porn; they can pressurize you to smoke & have alcohol & other dangerous drugs.

I feel sick to my stomach when I read they feel it’s all consensual. These are young people & they take time to learn. Learning of course means going through shitty episodes. This may seem fun at the outset but once you’re into it, yeah things could go nasty & that’s why many of them have experienced violence.

But the thing is…we can’t teach teenagers the art of making love or ideas that sex is sacred. We can educate them about safe sex & sexually transmitted diseases rather than getting horrified by such studies. And I’m amazed that 45 % indulge in the act without using condoms.

Anyhow, it’s not a big deal that teenagers are participating in group sex. This is nothing new. I also don’t think it’s right to fix the blame on guys for forcing females. I don’t think it would be so in every single case. Females are also ever ready for juicy stuff. However, in some cases, guys don’t take ‘no’ seriously & they go on.

Right at the outset, I said that adults mostly forget they were once teenagers. Personally, I think the younger people, i.e. teenagers of today are far better humans. (I can’t say this about people of my age group & people older than me who for the most part are hypocrites.) They may seem reckless & they may indulge in illegal acts but they have been open about it. The older generation likes to hide away shit under the carpet & they are in a state of shock when they hear about their kids having group sex. I believe they like to pretend whenever they can & this maybe an auspicious opportunity to become naïve.

There’s nothing wrong in getting dirty. Even staying dirty is acceptable as long as you don’t harm others & yourself in the process of getting dirty. An average teenager cannot remain saint & those who do may have someone to boss them around or they are just not plain lucky or I don’t know. There is always communication gap when teenagers get into trouble. Adults need to do something about that.
