TV anchor bitten in the face by rescued dog

Kyle Dyer was talking to the man who rescued Max from freezing lake while petting the dog with her face very close. It has been reported all over that she has been bitten in the face by a huge Mastiff on her morning show & she underwent reconstructive surgery. When I read the article, I was like Mastiff is one powerful breed & you just can’t trust an unknown powerful dog at all. This is what it says:

‘In a flash, Max bares his teeth and lashes out at Ms Dyers face. Animal control officers called it a 'pretty major bite.'

This sounds pretty scary. I do feel sorry for the anchor. She’s an animal lover herself & yeah she was just being warm & affectionate towards a dog who has been through a lot lately.

The dog, whose full name is Warrior Maximus, was rescued from a freezing pond on Monday after he fell in the lake & couldn’t make it out himself; he was swimming in frigid water for 20 minutes and that’s a hell of a long time. Btw, he came on the show on Wednesday as part of a mini-reunion between him and his rescuers.

However, now Max has been caged by animal control officers and his owner, Michael Robinson has been fined. Max didn’t have proper rabies vaccinations & he has been quarantined for 10 days. However, it has been suggested that the dog might be put down. Naturally there is mix response. There are people who are blaming Kyle & they don’t want the dog to suffer. Some people want the dog to be put down. I think fixing the blame on Kyle or Max is not right. Accidents happen just like that. You must check out the short clip of the bite. Almost everyone is saying its graphic but you will change your mind once you watch it.

This dog was traumatized after what he went through. The incident happened on Monday & he was at the 9News studio on Wednesday…that in itself was a stupid thing on the part of humans. You can call it exploitation or drama. What was the need to arrange this episode of reuniting? Animals just like humans take time to recover. As it’s evident from the video that Kyle was being very loving; it’s just that when she tried to kiss him, he nipped at her. He didn’t maul or attack her in the way media is projecting.

Petting is okay but you should never stick your face into somebody else’s dog you just met no matter how much love you feel for the animal that has suffered. As it is, dogs take time to trust humans. Moreover, they are pack animals; they also take another human as a dog & that’s why sometimes they attack them when they feel threatened. And People do get bitten by their own dogs.

I wouldn’t use the word stupid for Kyle. I really feel sorry for her & I wish her speedy recovery. But at the same, it’s wrong to put down Max. However I will repeat…Sticking your face into the face of an unknown dog is not common sense. You don’t have to be a dog lover to know it. Moreover, he growled at Kyle and bared his teeth, but she ignored the warning. It’s obvious he was threatened. He wanted her to back off but maybe she didn’t realize or whatever. Accidents happen even when it’s not our fault & accidents are horrible incidents that can alter your life. Max too had a traumatic experience & now he’s quarantined for 10 days. That’s also stress for him. He has been separated with his owner. This is not right.

Moreover, Doug Kelley, the director of Denver Animal Care and Control, says Max's owner will be cited for three things: because the dog bit someone, for a leash-law violation because the owner did not have control of the dog at all times, and for not having Max vaccinated for rabies.

It seems only Max & his owner will pay the price. Punishing the dog for the stupidity of humans is quite a shameless step. His owner didn’t get him vaccinated. Then TV people wanted them to come to the station for a dramatic reunion, which went all bad.

And those of you who want to kiss cats & dogs, please give them some time. Better still don’t think about kissing unknown cats & dogs. They are not babies; they are animals & animals do get angry when they feel threatened. How would you feel if some stranger tries to stick his face into yours? Wouldn’t you slap him? I will.
