New ad for senior citizens has shocked quite a few

Well if you ask me, I find this particular ad hilarious but I’m sure people must be shocked out of their wits. Actually some people are ever ready to get shocked at any opportunity & this one just couldn’t be ignored.

Now this ad is basically promoting safe sex through the use of condoms. These old people are all dressed up but the sexual nature of the positions is so that it’s hard not to laugh, but some people have taken it way too seriously. You know they are badly offended. Moreover, this video was made by New York ad agency DDB and campaign group safesex4seniors.org & the reason they have adopted this shock tactic is simple: STDs among sexually-active seniors in Florida had risen by 71per cent over the past five years & they just want to promote safe sex so that seniors enjoy their sex lives without getting infected. It’s as innocent as that. And the payoff reads, “While there are many ways to do it... There's only one way to do it safely.” Now what’s wrong with it? This is a worthy cause. Isn’t it? I don’t get it why are people so ashamed if their grandparents have a bit of fun.

However, some people believe they are making fun of old people as they don’t need to be educated at this age; they must know it all. They do have a point, but maybe this was required. Just come to think about it, STDs among old folks had risen by 71per cent over the past five years. No one even bothered to raise the question: yeh sab kartay kya hain? :P Surely these old folks had no clue about something known as human sexual behavior. They also need to tell these old folks that some STIs can also be transmitted via the use of IV drug needles after its use by an infected person. What is clear is that they don’t know much about venereal diseases or how a person gets infected in the first place. It’s ironic you know all the positions & you don’t know how you may get infected. Anyhow, DDB, the New York-based advertising agency has only used humor to send out a powerful message.

A spokesman of the agency said: “Whether the younger generation likes it or not, our grandparents are having sex. We wanted to make a sexy ad that maintains a level of tastefulness and encourages seniors to enjoy their sex lives – safely.”

Anyway, this is not a sexy ad. It’s rather a funny ad but it’s not that much fun to watch it. And one also doesn’t get excited unless of course you’re just too sick or you get excited just like that. Instead of complaining that you don’t like the idea of grandparents having sex, be thankful that all these old people are wearing clothes. Warna tou mushkil hojati, seriously!

Anyhow, the bottom is simple: unprotected sexual act at any age is dangerous; it’s better that you take precaution & educate yourself about safe sex. And as the citizens of this world, we need to promote the use of condoms.
